Correct Motor Oil 2000 Path Manual Trans

Hi everyone....I am due for an oil change. I need to know 1). what is the correct oil to use for this? The last time I had one done, they used 10w30. But when I did a search on an auto parts store, 5w30 came up. I checked my owner's manual and it doesn't state the correct type to use. Different oil ...

Resin/Fiber Glass Smell---UPDATE

Hi everyone...well, it turns out that the Resin/Fiberglass smell that kept smacking me in the face and getting stronger by the day WAS after all a car related issue. I failed my emissions test and the report showed I had to replace my 20 yr old catalytic converters. I took my car and report to a loc...

Resin/Fiber Glass Smell

I everyone! ok..about a yr. and half ago, my husband bought a small bottle of resin material to mix to make the hard stuff for a project. He had it on the floor in the back of the Pathy. It didn't leak. But damn it if it didn't smell that resin for weeks. I washed the mat. Eventually the smell went ...

To Shim or Not?

Thanks Hooligan: He is quoting me about $400 for shimming (out the door). I can also get a used one for that down here. But I think I'm with you. I will have him look at the plug for the metal shavings and if there isn't any then I will just go for a while longer. As long as it isn't dangerous to dr...

Shim it or replace it?

Hi All. I have a 2000 SE Manual Tranny I have posted in the past that I am having alot of play in my rear differential. My mechanic guru down here in Costa Rica says he can shim it or replace it with a used one. So which is better? Am I taking any chances shimming vs. putting in a used one? The pric...

Differential play?

No there is no high pitched noise. It is like a very soft clunk. Every mechanic who has heard it says: 1). Oh that sound is not good. You need to have work done on the differ or 2). There is alot of play happening in there. You can have that fixed with shims. He went on to explain that the metal wea...

2000 Pathfinder SE Manual Play in the differential?

HI guys...back again with another Q: My rear differential makes a sound when I go over bumps. Its not a bad clunck, but more like a soft butt rubbing sound ( Sorry, I just dont know how else to put it). My mechanic says the only way to fix it is to take it apart and insert SHIMS . He said this is a ...

2000 Pathfinder U-Joint Cost of Repair

HI everyone. I Love this site Thanks for all the previous help.

Today I am asking about the U Joint:

I notice on sites that the actual part is not expensive. So here is my Q:

How long does it take to change an old one out for a new one?

What is the approximate cost to do this job?

THX!

Welding the Stabilizer Bar...

Thanks Guys... I guess I should have mentioned it is the REAR one.

I'll try the welding solution first....I'm not out anything. And if that doesn't hold, then I'll keep looking. I may have to import a used one.

I want to look this part up to see what the cost is online. I know it is part of the Strut and Shocks, but I only need to replace these donut looking things and NOT the whole shock and strut. What do you call these? https://i.ebayimg.com/thumbs/images/g/y6YAAOSw6EhUSlmz/s-l225.jpg Thanks Little Red ...

2000 Pathfinder SE Manual Mass Air Flow Sensor Replace?

It has never been changed in the 20 yrs of the car and I know that I have never had it cleaned in the 6 yrs I've owned it. So my Q is this: 1). Cant this just be cleaned first? OR Does it have to be ...
