Re: POR-15 on Random Things

Tackled something on the back burner: I removed my rear sway bar and its brackets, and resurfaced the sections where the bushings clamp onto it. I had just been tossing new OEM bushings in there, but there was a fair amount of rust pitting and bubbles, plus stuck-on old rubber that meant the bar was...

Re: Rear lift Gate Hatch

I've also had good luck with the McMaster struts but you have to remember that 2 struts need 4 threaded ends not just 2... While we are one the liftgate subject: Mine rattles like crazy. I've shifted the clasp and latch pieces and tightened them down. I put some white lithium grease inside the latc...

Re: New stereo with Apple Carplay

It's a matte screen, no glare problems so far. Only thing I don't like about it is the "dim" setting at night is a little brighter than I'd like it to be, but it's liveable and the whole unit can at least be turned off. My last head unit did not actually dim with the headlights even though...

New stereo with Apple Carplay

I did a thing... https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/e185/txnavy/IMG_1558.jpg?width=960&height=720&fit=bounds Atoto S8 Premium. Don't know if I'll try to install cameras, but I like it a lot already. Fast and snappy. I put the GPS, 4G, and WiFi antennas under the dash. Speed sensitive sou...

Re: Rear Wheel Well - missing fender flaps?

So I think that the difference here is the running boards... Versions delivered without the stock running boards have those mini mud flaps, but you never see them on models with the running boards. I could be wrong, but i made a trip to the auto wrecker today and the 2012 there did not have boards ...

Re: Clicking Sounds

Since I'm fixing them right now, add front body mounts to that list. Bunch of stuff in the front can sound unfortunately identical.

Re: Rear Wheel Well - missing fender flaps?

Someone parked their 2005 with these front side flaps next to my truck today. Never seen them before. https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/e185/txnavy/IMG_1521.jpg?width=960&height=720&fit=bounds If there's an R51, I usually park next to it out of principle. This time, someone else did the...

Re: Rear Wheel Well - missing fender flaps?

I'm thinking that part might be in lieu of the rear mud flap? Or under it?

There is nothing in the forward part of mine. I do know the square holes you are talking about. Nothing has ever been there in my truck.

Re: Dead alternator...?

Hello all, Today leaving the house, the Pathfinder went into limp mode and has what sounds like a whine coming from the alternator along with a burning smell. Multimeter shows that it is running on battery power only, around 11v when I checked it, and not the 13-14v you'd expect. I swapped batterie...

Re: Never mind! Have more thinking on this one.

Lots of threads on burping the system. It's not too tricky, just repetitive: park uphill, rev engine at 2-3K RPM with heat on full blast throughout the truck. Top off coolant when cool, rinse repeat a few times until the level stays steady. Helps to have zero leaks though, including the radiator its...

Re: Replace stock sus with Moog/Bilstein?

I'd do sway bar bushings yourself for sure. They're pretty easy. Sway bar end links are another thing to look at. The originals can be a PITA to remove if they are rusty, but worth checking out and replacing if they are notchy or have play in them. Moog makes some replacements that are a little burl...

Re: Replace stock sus with Moog/Bilstein?

Just purchased the Moog front and rear springs, all in cost was $200. Planning on ordering the Bilstein 4600's front and rear. For an install cost at a local shop what should I expect to pay? Been looking to do this on my 2012 V6 for years now. Dunno...but I would at least take a look at installing...

Re: Replace stock sus with Moog/Bilstein?

Shipfixer, what airbags are you running, and do you like them/would you buy them again? I have the AirLift 1000 bags. On my second set (purchased new ones with the Moog springs in 2018) and they work great, never any issues. One note here, with the Moogs you definitely want to install the airbags w...

Re: '05 R51 Mode 6 Data - Details

I don't think so. But Nissan Data Scan on a PC does show more of the data through reverse engineering of CONSULT than you will get with OBD II by itself, including some codes that don't pop up on OBD II readers or even the Android version of NDS. It can also command idle air relearn, and set idle sp...

My reservoir leaked, so that's what I replaced along with the pump.
