I'm not sure this is your model exactly. But if you go to that web page, it shows schematics of every assembly. Nothing beats a service manual though.

Sorry, the hatch shocks are installed the same way. I see they have the same ends though. I was looking at the glass struts.

yes they are interference motors. Mine broke doing about 10 mph in second gear down a grass trail. I bent 1 valve. Lucky from what I have read about.

Warm the truck up as much as you can, wd40 on the plugs and then try to pull the plugs. Be careful because it's easier to break the porcelain when warm, but this is the best bet to get the plugs out.

I was looking at the same two trucks. I bought the pathfinder because it was a good deal. I have had my problems with it, mostly because the previous owner never changed anything. Nice write up. I wish I had checked my timing belt first. Luckily 1 valve later it runs good.

I bought an 88 a few months ago and I'm the same way. I will say this. First thing is check / change the timing belt. I didn't and it cost me a valve job. I'm also thinking about the roof rack. Mainly to get rid of the spare tire in my rear view and as a better place to mount lights. I put some chea...
