Re: P0420 but front left cat rattles

Thanks SMJ,
I don't know how many lunches I owe you already :)

I was about to get supercheap ones (USD 150 for both front at premierautoexhaust) but I will go with walkers - I plan to keep this truck for at leeast 5 more years.

Thanks again!

P0420 but front left cat rattles

Like the title says, the error code is consistently coming up (tho i clear it) as P0420. I ignored it for about 5 or 6 months now. But about a month ago i started hearing the rattle - it is not a heat shield. Had it up on a houst by a local mechanic and the rattle (hitting it by hand) is coming from...

Re: Center or Third Brake Light

Update: Bought the light for 30 bucks including shipping off of eBay - some Russian guy - mine is version 2.0A and it’s nice and very bright. Fit in with no issues - less than 5 mins to install - the eBay guy sent a quick how to video - so far so good. It’s just a special LED strip you take out and ...

P0420

For the last month I’ve been getting the P0420 code - I clear it off wit my obd2 - but it’s now popping up every 20-30km... no other codes. I have an app on my phone and could take other readings. I took my car for inspection 6 months ago back (no probs or engine errors then) m and they told me exha...

Re: Towing Too Much - Transmission Fail

Thank you, ship and smj. I will never tow over 3500 pounds again. However - driving for 6 hours through the rockies - changing 1km of elevation in 10 minutes and a few times throught the drive - i would imagine this could push things too far... Maybe my transmission is not as good now as it was... S...

Re: Towing Too Much - Transmission Fail

Just downloaded the "MotorData OBD" app and purchased their $10 Nissan addon. No luck with displaying transmission fluid temperature. All the apps I have show me coolant temperature being around 185 degrees F. Coolant temperature should be very closely related to transmission fluid tempera...

Re: Towing Too Much - Transmission Fail

I know the feeling. Same highway I use towards Merit from Vancouver - several times a year. I always see some schmuk with their their hood up steam coming out - feeling humbled it could be me :)... Same thing going back home - just maybe 10 klicks west from West Kelowna - that climb seems to take fo...

Re: Towing Too Much - Transmission Fail

Thanks, smj. I did the very next day - got the transmission fluid done. Also front and rear dif.
Transmission fluid looked dark - kind of like between cofee and maple syrup. I touched it for sludge an and there was some fine silt/sludge but no steel chips or anything i could notice...

Re: No front air coming out?

SMJ, figured I'd give you an update. A week or more of it not working. One afternoon - I was parking the car, had AC air running through the back and all of a sudden the front started working. I did take out the front blower motor. Easy. I took out the motor with fan out of it's own plastic housing ...

Re: Towing Too Much - Transmission Fail

Yes - no problems whatsoever. I drove back for about 7 hours through the Rockies towing the empty 1800lb trailer and no lights or nothing. changed fluids since.

Anything cheap I could do about the seals?

Re: Towing Too Much - Transmission Fail

Yes we did :) - I stand ashamed. Good memory!!! Yet that was for a 6000lb tractor. + Trailer. When I undertook this journey I had no idea that blocks and gravel could weigh that much. Until people at home depot would not load on the blocks... They read the tag on the trailer that allowed for only 30...

Towing Too Much - Transmission Fail

Figured some of you want to know the max towing number. I will never do this again. 2 weeks ago, I picked up a double axle U-haul trailer 6x12 that weighs 1800 lb empty. Loaded it with 1.5 cubic yards of sand/gravel mix - about 4000 pounds. Then I put in 132 of concrete blocks - each weighs 38 pound...

Thank you, SMJ...
My pathfinder has a screen and the air is controlled via +\- button.
No air coming out no matter how many bars I set it to.
This means it’s the motor. Correct?

Any chance to resuscitate the motor? Clean it up?

That’s right SMJ - it’s a relay. We used a 9v battery (asks for 12v) and powered up 1 and 2 and you can hear the switch come on - then you test 3 and 5 and then 4 and 7 Easy peasy - the relay is good. Next I need a good guide on how to get to the front blower motor... somebody said it may be the...

Just checked all the fuses (hood ones and ones to the right of glove compartment) they all look crisp and good. But under the hood there is a fat brown fuse (about 1 cubic inch) for front blower - no clue if that could be it - I got my brother checking it now with a voltmeter. If that’s not it Iâ€...
