Re: Trying to ID Drivetrain Sound

As for the driveshaft..maybe not the best idea....i'm positive it won't work out... For whatever reason I thought you had performed service on the front shaft, not the rear.... Sorry on that..argh. Hope you have some luck! Well, my worrying was all for naught. I performed your pepper-grinder test. ...

Re: Trying to ID Drivetrain Sound

Any issues with the transmission? Nothing obvious? It seems to shift smoothly. Midas told me it was slipping during my routine oil change. But I've never felt it slip? I don't really trust Midas much more than oil changes... Your last comment states that if you turn the truck off, the noise would s...

Re: Trying to ID Drivetrain Sound

With the windows up. When you start, do you hear a whirring sound inside the cab? No, I do not. Is the noise similar to let's say the pitch / frequency of radio noise? It goes up with engine RPM and then dies down a bit on the start of the car? It does not sound like radio noise. I would compare it...

Trying to ID Drivetrain Sound

Hi Folks: My Pathy is currently @ 195,121. Over the past two weeks, I have begun hearing a "spooling-up" sound, for lack of a better term. As my speed increases, the sound grows higher in pitch. As I decelerate, it slowly lowers in pitch. It is not correlated with engine RPMs. With my limi...

What would be the best way for me to go about finding out if the gallery cover gaskets have been updated or to find a part number for them? Just call the dealer and ask?

I believe I'm having this problem. At idle (1200rpms) oil light comes on. As soon as I rev to around 1500 (or am driving), oil gauge returns to "normal." Sender was replaced, to no effect. Do I sound correct in my assessment? How much harm is being done every time I drive it? I'm assuming ...

Serpentine belt keeps falling off...

This morning was the second time that the s belt has come off when I started the car. It happened another time about a month or two ago. Would the issue be the belt itself? The tensioner? Or is it sabotage by TOYOTA?!?

Thanks, appreciate any input. :)

Well, I've always noticed it's a bit squishy, but it's seemed as if it's gotten a bit worse. I know on another car, it was a sign that the master cylinder was going. Would that be the case here, too? Any way to check?

Squishy Brake Pedal

My '06 pathy stops just fine. I can get the ABS to engage if I try; but the brake pedal has a lot of "give" in it. I examined all of the pads. The fronts are at 40% and the rears are at 60%.

What should I check?

I was scared to do so without knowing that that's okay to do. Worked out perfect. Thanks!

Replacing rear u-joints

I have these four bolts off. I expected the shaft to come free but it won't budge. Now what do I do?

Rear shock questions

The rear shocks are pretty straightforward, right? Two bolts off, pop the new one in, put the bolts back, done?

For the lowest bolt/nut, there is hardly any access to the nut. I can't seem to get it. Is this a buddy project?

Any other issues I should worry about?

Strut/shock replacement, this is all I need?

Hey guys/gals, I have an '05 SE with 93k on it and I'm doing the struts/shocks on it. I've acquired a lot of strut knowledge here and am reasonably certain; however, I'm just making sure I'm correct. I have KYB GR-2's for up front, Bilstein 4600s for the rear, and a set of boots for up front. Is the...

Re: Bad gas mileage in 2006 SE

Any changes to the truck? New tires? Have you changed the air filter? Driving style? The only thing I've done aside from routine maintenance is replace the radiator fan clutch. And I replaced it out of the annoyance at the noise level and the (irrational?) fear that the additional drag would someho...

Bad gas mileage in 2006 SE

I have always monitored my gas mileage and highway mpg has always been ~21. Over the past year, it has slowly and steadily gotten worse and now I get about 15.5 at 70 mph. I get bad in the city also. Around 12.5. Any idea why?
