Re: Intake Manifold Power Valve noise ????

My 2008 had the same issue. I know the TSB was for 05-06 models, but around 120-130k miles, it was annoying-like spark knock or timing chain rattles. It would present under a light load accel, around 2400-3000 rpms if memory serves. I had my wife modulate the throttle while I had it on jack stands a...

Hey guys, if anyone is interested, I just completed my chains a few weeks ago, and I have the J-48761 ring gear stopper tool that I will sell for a reasonable offer. There's also a post separate than this for it. I have a little over $100 in it. I know you can do the job without it, but it really ma...

What kind of noises are you hearing now? is it at a specific RPM? the secondary tensioners usually 'whine' at all RPM, but pitch goes up with eng rpm. Mine has a rattling noise that comes in around 2200 under light/moderate accel, that drops off around 26-2800. If that's what you are hearing, it cou...

And, with the updated radiator, and a new transmission...only the timing chain issue is left (if yours is affected) I hope it isn't! You should have a solid SUV after that!

Be thankful for that. On my wife's 05 Mazda 6 V6, that rubber tube from the air filter box to the throttle body is over $100! Have you looked at low mileage salvage yard units?

FYI to anyone with a VQ40, (according to Ben, the tech who helped me) those VVT sprockets on the intake cams can fail due to lack of maintenance. (seems more common on other Nissan engines, but they are all similar in design) They can sludge up, and give a intake timing code. all the little pieces i...

Need HELP with timing chain variable sprocket!

Hey folks, I just accidentally took apart one of the VVT sprockets while removing the secondary chains/tensioners. now I have a bunch of tiny spring plates and tiny 'keystocks'. Has anyone ever dissasembled/reassembled one? Please reply to redfiv@hotmail.com as I will get that quicker. thanks!!! (ye...

Mine sounds like valvetrain clatter or bad spark knock, around 2000-2600 rmps under light accel or load. After doing the research and the math...The 3M Scotch weld sealant for the TSB is $20-25, then you need the special gun and mixing tube, etc...A new valve on courtesy Nissan is like $40 brand new...

t-chains

right now I'm at 105k. From my research I do know this...Not every engine is affected by the timing chain problem. what the 'cause' is being described as is this: All the little plates that make up the chain are stamped out on a press. over time, the dies get dull, and the pieces coming out start ge...

Thanks for the feedback smj999smj, Yes I have the sealant from Nissan, as well as all the seals from the dealer needed for the job (sans valve covers now) Yes I have air tools, so getting the harmonic balancer off will not be a problem. Just one more thing for the job...Maybe I should order an intak...
