What motors and transmissions are you running

Somewhat confused by all this. My 2.5 litre diesel 2007 R51 has now clocked just shy of 177,000kms and is running the original transmission and motor. In Australia Nissan has the reputation for having unbreakable drivetrains and suspensions and Toyota have the best motors. Sorry to hear of your grie...

One further thing

We also put Poly Airbags in the rear which run at 5psi when the truck is unladen or at 30psi when the truck is towing or loaded or both. They also make a difference by leveling the back end with the front.

Diesel or Petrol

In Australia they have dropped the petrol versions altogether. Since the 05 model I believe there have been three different diesel motors available; 2.5 litre 130kw, 2.5 litre 140kw and the 3.0 litre 170kw. There was a 4.0 litre V6 Petrol available up until late 2010 but it has been axed since. I do...

Wildlife hazzards

Yes agree completely; there is no substitute for a steel bar. We don't generally have Deer (except near a few National Parks where they are feral pests) and no Moose at all to contend with but Bulls, Cows and Horses we've got aplenty. Sheep are also a problem in some areas. The Kangaroos are suicida...

Suspension lift upgrade Tough Dog

As stated I've now had 3 sets of their shocks and used their lift kits on two trucks. They are very good products in my view and experience.

Go aftermarket not Nissan

If you google ARB or Opposite Lock in Australia you will find a range of bars and accessories that will suit your Pathfinder. There are a number of other suppliers as well as it is big business here. Not sure about your wildlife but the alloy bars are not the best for protection. I had one and clipp...

R 51 Crawler Gears & Front locker

The front bar was supplied and fitted by Opposite Lock here in Brookvale, Sydney. It is their own brand I believe. The lift was achieved by fitting the Tough Dog suspension kit; springs & shocks. It is about 50mm so isn't extreme. The shocks are also adjustable with 10 seperate settings and are ...

R51 Crawler Gears & Front Locker

Thanks. There are some nice shots there. I must admit we have had some fabulous experiences because we had this truck and her predecessor. My daughters have grown up knowing and understanding a world that most people their age don't even know exists. We had some beautiful photos of the Cape York tri...

R51 Crawler Gears and Front Locker

Here is the link to an album I set up on photobucket. http://s1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc398/OldGumby/ As you can see she has changed over time, alloy bar to steel and so on. We are also on our second Camper Trailer. We broke the suspension mounts and buckled the frame of our original trailer on ...

R51 Crawler Gears and Front Locker

Hi deermjd. Thanks for replying. I haven't determined the ratios I need as yet. Was hoping I could get some leads from someone who has already done it. As for my Truck; It is in the workshop over Christmas so I will wait to get the work finished before posting pics. It is getting all the roof bar wo...

R51 Crawler Gears & Front Locker

I have a 2007 R51 2.5 litre turbo diesel which has been extensively enhanced; live in Australia. The two things still missing are crawler gears and a front locker. The front locker may not be possible in a Pathfinder because of the all mode system they use. I've just about exhausted options here in ...
