Yeah that install took all of about 1.5 hours, and that was going super-slow because I'm not familiar with electrical work. An added bonus is that, if it goes out again, it's very easy to replace the sensor at that location!

Update on mileage: I got 15.3 on my last tank, up from 14.6. I did a little more highway driving than usual on that tank, so I'll chalk up .3 mpg to that. Looks like the relocation got me close to a half a mile per gallon. Not great, (as if the mpg on these things was great to begin with, lol) but b...

It would be nice if it did help the MPG...Pathfinders need all the help they can get!

I did some research into the potential downfalls of the relocation, and overwhelmingly what I came up with is that, if you live in populated areas in the US, Canada, Western Europe, or Australia, there should be no issue with knock due to the quality of fuel available. As I understand it knock will ...

If you end up replacing the hubs - and I'm not saying you need to, I have no diagnosis to offer - you may wanna go this route and replace them with lockable hubs. Will save you on fuel mileage when you free-wheel the fronts. Saves on driveline wear and tear, too. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/for...

Knock Sensor Relocation

Did it Saturday, and it was not as big as I feared. I just get really nervous messing with wiring because of the whole "point of no return" thing. The knock sensor on my truck has been bad since I last owned it in 2008. There was no MIL on the dash or anything, but I scanned it when I firs...

Starter Change

Well the well-mentioned valve cover leak claimed a victim this week - my starter. Has anyone changed a starter on their R50? Seems to me the worst part is getting it out around the passenger-front axle shaft. (Mine's a 96)

Thanks for the tip. It has 135,600 miles, so that's not a terrible lot of miles for a clutch. However, it is 16 years old, so.... There's a lot that needs to be done. The suspension is, as far as I know, the original and this thing rolls like I'm on a boat. So, new suspension, $800+. (gotta go OME, ...

Cruise Control Question

The cruise on my 96 seems to be non-functional. The only time I can get the "Cruise" light to come on in the cluster is if I hold down the "set" button and turn the separate switch to "on" at the same time. Then the cruise light will blink, but the cruise will not catch...

I'd feel more comfortable with the GC 3.0 than the Liberty, because the GC has a Mercedes engine. If the Jeep place looks at it and scratches their heads, you can take it to a Benz dealer and they'll know what to do. The Liberty has a 2.8L VM Motori (Italian) engine, and apart from marine applicatio...

I liked it overall. It's really a unique package - a high-torque diesel is perfect for a 4x4. I disliked that in the US it was only available with an automatic, but lived with it. They have some quirks, however. But there is a very dedicated online community for owners that helped me troubleshoot (a...

Hello all, My Pathfinder has an interesting story. I originally got her in 2006, after several months of research and comparison against the Toyota 4-Runner. At the time I wanted reliability over anything, since I was buying an older car in order to lower my debt load, and my conclusion was that mid...
