Re: 2011 Radio/climate control unresponsive after stereo removal

Bummer there's not an answer here. My 2012 head unit is doing the same thing. I've checked fuses and they seemed OK, so next step I'll take apart the unit and look for problems.

You never found a solution??

Tore a hole in my valve cover at mount for engine dust cover. . .

Am I the only person to ever do this? I was replacing my heater hose assembly, for the second time. The two replacements were 7 years apart, but still frustrating that the plastic used on that part was so poor. This time, I went with the aftermarket metal assembly, which is working great. But that i...

Re: Fan Clutch Rebuild - I just replaced mine.

2008 V6, SE with 215K miles. Temperature was rising to unacceptable levels at low RPM and fan spun freely both cold and after running. I ordered a new one on Amazon, actually, as it was only $65 USD and that was with free same-day delivery. AutoZone Duralast option was $170. From Nissan would have b...

Re: Timing Chain/Guides - Preventative or Wait for Symptoms?

Thanks, y'all. Where I hear no whine, I'm going to just keep up on oil changes and see where it goes. I have had no problems with radiator/SMOD. Only "classic" problems I've had were with plastic cooling fittings breaking at back of engine a few years ago. Replaced that whole assembly. Oth...

Timing Chain/Guides - Preventative or Wait for Symptoms?

My 2008 SE 4.0 is at 198k miles. Runs great. Everything works. No whine, no strange sounds from engine or valve train. I'm inclined to wait for a problem, but could be convinced to replace timing chain components. Or maybe even put in a re-mannufactured engine. Opinions on doing it "early"...

Re: Airbag light started flashing

The Foxwell scanner I bought for $150 was very simple to use and reset the steering angle sensor. The "VDC OFF" and "SLIP Lights" went off immediately and the traction control and ABS are operating perfefctly. So, beginning to end, I spent $200 ($50 for clock spring, $150 for Fox...

Re: Airbag light started flashing

A follow up to my earlier post. I bought the Clock Spring from the e-bay link. My Pathy is a 2008 SE. Getting the exact right part is kind of a tricky deal, but this was the part for me. About $50. I've actually done this before, as my steering wheel mounted buttons stopped working. Last time, I had...

Re: Airbag light started flashing

Good to hear. For the benefit of others who also may encounter this, attached is the part we had swapped. Notice that it’s a big assembly behind the steering wheel airbag and it includes the stalks! It doesn’t come separate, you can get the lights/turn signals stalk and the other stalk separately b...

I have noticed exactly the same thing, with some noise.

Your description of oil-light seeming to stay on a couple seconds longer than expected is spot-on with my experience. We had a cold spell here recently, and when very cold I was getting what sounded like valve-tapping coming from engine until it had run for a good while. Once warm, the noise goes aw...

I just did my whole front end. . .

About two weeks ago I re-did my front suspension. Upper and lower control arms, CVs, outer tie-rod ends, strut/spring, and sway bar linkage. I think that was it for major components, did the CV seals and other incidentals along the way. I was able to remove ONE lower control arm bolt. The other thre...

I considered doing something similar. In the end, I preferred something OEM. I don't think I ever mentioned here that my new assembly sprung a pin-hole leak on day one. New piece has a rubber vacuum line cap and clamp on the very top. Was only $1.00 to replace and fix it, but having a defect in the ...

That's hard to diagnose, but start with your battery/alterna

It could be a short somewhere, which would be hard to diagnose. But when my alternator was going out, my interior lights and even dash warnings and indicators would do weird things. They'd be on and off, etc. at weird times. If it runs fine, I'd take it over to an AutoZone and they have a device tha...

Maybe something obvious?

I don't want to assume you haven't considered things like battery, starter, and alternator, but I'd start there. I drive a 2008 and had to replace my alternator in September 2015. Battery was shot at the same time, which seems to happen (bad alternator causes batter to fail, too). When you "jum...

Follow up - had to replace whole assembly.

As a follow up to my jimmy rigged repair of the broken heater hose connection. . . my repair lasted about 48 hours and then failed. Needing the car daily, I bought the Heater Hose Assembly from local dealership for $267.07 plus tax, so roughly $300.00. Removing and replacing the assembly was a bit o...
