i have constant white smoke and temp gauge not working is there any test i can do to see if head has gone i have checked dipstick which is clean took of filler cap ther is some brown residue on metal parts

Your European made pathy may not have an air/oil cooler, as I believe this is an option on Euro models. That being said, without adding one, you can't do the bypass as you would have no cooling at all if bypassed. Based on our observations, European models don't seem to be affected by this defect. ...
