One of the german owners added a LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) system which makes the running cost acceptable.

Re: Need help with towing

Like all coolers it could get clogged.. But my money is on a radiator that got marginal. Protect your tranny dont play games with it.. these are not cheap to replace... and pretty strong transmissions.. but like any if they get overheated it will need a rebuild. There are apps and plug in OBD2 that ...

Re: Engine replacement

Time for an update. Bought on ebay a 2016 VQ40DE with 39K miles on it. Unfortunately almost all breakers don't ship outside the US. So, had it shipped from somwhere on the east coast to LA where a forwarder loaded the engine in a container. LA -> Panama -> Rotterdam. Shipping took 2 months and my m...

Re: Clock malfunction

I was having this same problem earlier this year. Since I am still under extended warranty, I took it to my dealership for service. They determined the battery needed replacement and recommended I change it asap. I was skeptical but upon changing the battery, the problem is gone -- no more issue wi...

Re: Need help with towing

Sounds like your car went into limp mode when the tranny sensors sensed excessive temps. Replacing the radiator will go a long way to brining temps down as the factory heat exchanger in the radiator DOES contribute to ATF cooling. Thanks! Is there an aftermarket rad that you recommend? There are so...

Re: Engine rebuild or replacecment

Wow whats going on with your Pathy?? Theses engine usually last forever. Bad cats causing ingestion of ceramic catalytic conevrter parts? Or jumped time? In any event here are plenty of used VQ40de in junk yards all across the country in totaled vehicles. Should be able to pick one of those up for a...

Re: Wading depth?

I expect the R51 diff to be a carbon copy of the Xterras non locking diff.
The Xterra guys say the diff is the weak spot for wading because the breather element sits really low.

I will do the rear diff breather mod on my my vehicles when I am back in US>
