Check out these videos. There's a little worm gear that can come loose and fail to actuate the heater control valve. You can place your hands on the coolant hoses on each side of the valve for an indication if it is failing. Seems to be a pretty common problem on the 5.6L https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Was kicking around the idea of doing electric cutouts pre-cat so I could have quiet factory sound during normal driving then balls to the wall on demand... but have heard that will result in throwing a code. Running a cutout after the cat/resonator seems like a waste since only eliminating one restr...

Local shop pressure tested the system. Couldn't find anything. Haven't seen any blue fluid under the truck other than those two times. Freaking mystery. Go figure.

Windshield washer solvent is sometimes blue. And that's what it looks like to me, but I can't think of a reason why solvent would spill over. Now on the other hand it does make sense that coolant would spill over on occasion due to being pressurized (hot). I just can't see where it's coming from. An...

Coolent (or washer solvent) puddling under truck?

The last two days I have noticed blue fluid puddling under the vehicle when I park it in the garage. I am unable to identify the source since the engine is hot the fluid evaporates and I can't trace where it is coming from. It does appear to be dripping from the engine (V8 engine) oil pan but that c...

As others have said CAIs can potentially work, with most of the benefit coming from it augmenting other mods (headers, exhaust, intake manifold, etc.). In my experience the air intake on the pathfinder is pretty good in that it actually ports to the fender cavity, doesn't have a ton of restrictive b...

Had favorable weather and a few spare hours this morning so tackled the spark plug change. Local AutoZone suggested NGK Iridium IX (LFR5AIX-11). A side-by-side comparison with the old plugs yielded they were a very close match to stock fitment. Lucked out and stumbled into a $2/plug rebate turning a...

Stick with the OE spark plugs, NGK # 93759. It's coil on plug, so there are no wires to replace. There is no fuel filter to replace (it's part of the fuel pump module in the tank). That leaves the engine air filter and cabin air filter and coolant. For the coolant, Pentosin makes the "genuine ...

Time for tune-up. Tips?

The odometer on the V8 R51 is approaching the point where a tune-up is recommended by the factory. Curious if anyone has any hacks that make the job easier to do and any recommendations on plugs/wires, etc.

Re: !!!HELP!!! A/C problem question???

I have a '06 Pathfinder SE w/comfort package, 4.0 liter. The a/c has the manual/auto setting. With the a/c in manual operation, when I first turn it on, it starts blowing cold. It will be cold for 3-5 minutes, then start blowing just cool air. I have the temp control on 60 degrees, as low as it wil...

Thanks. Will look into this. Problem seems to pop up more or persist longer when the ambient temperature is on the high end (90+). Are the dirty connections inside the switch i.e. between the black and white plastic, or on the bottom of the switch where it presumably plugs in? https://ae01.alicdn.co...

Rear power windows not rolling up?

Just encountered an issue the other day. Rear windows on both passenger and driver side occasionally do not go up using driver seat control button. If you fidget with it they will eventually roll up. Here's the kicker, it does this only on occasion. Most of the time it works fine. But when they shor...
