Before I came here, the "program" for D11's was basically to replace components until the track frame was beyond life. Upwards of 80k hours wasn't unheard of. The owners' philosophy didn't exactly take into account things like availability, efficiency, productivity.....Since I've been here...

Just wondering anyone know how much a reman VQ40DE cost? I dunno, but considering how cheap you can buy a salvaged Pathfinder....if I decided to keep this thing forever I may just go buy one. I've seen low mileage '11-'12 models sell pretty cheap. Besides body damage and blow airbags the power trai...

Last week I was delivering a copier machine to a rather large construction company in my area and somehow in the conversation with the owner we got to talking about motor oil changes and maintenance on his fleet. Long story short they just finished with a 4 year oil change study. He said every oil ...

If there's any sign the radiator has failed, I would pass. If you fix this BEFORE the radiator fails there's no harm and it's not a big deal at all. However, if the fluid has ever mixed then it's not worth the gamble. I would at the very least by-pass the radiator (search for this simple procedure)....

Mine does that when it needs an alignment. Has since it was new.

Opening up a box of worms with that question...but I run synthetic and have had it sampled several times. At 7,500-10,000 mile intervals, everything from Mobil 1 to generic brand (NAPA) synthetic have all tested extremely clean and with plenty of life remaining. I do a mix of highway and suburban/ru...

You can't. But you can deactivate the auto-locking completely which is what I've done. The procedure is in the manual, section 3 page 4.

I did some more testing last night and it does do it when revving in park. It's just very very light and you really can't hear it easily. For some reason it's very loud while under load. So I'm pretty sure that's the problem. What I've researched sounds like it's not really an issue beyond the noise...

Yes it's a V6. Maybe SMJ will chime in and have some experience with these. I'm not sure if the actuator is active while in park or not. The TSB isn't clear on that point and I don't get any noise while revving in park.

So I was able to replicate it more this morning. Only seems to be noticeable in 1st or 2nd gear and pretty much turns on right at 2,200 rpm. I can hold it there and have the noise remain constant. Engine was fully warmed up and outside temp was 34F. It really sounds more like a buzz in the exhaust/m...

You mean engine cold or temp cold? It doesn't seem to matter about engine temp, but you've got me thinking about the outdoor temp. It was doing it this morning (~low 30's F) but only lightly this evening (high 40's).

Dadgum at my age I may need a dang escalade to be happy with the ride/feel. You'd be surprised how rough they can ride, especially with the 22's. We have one in the company fleet and I'm not impressed with it at all. I regularly drive a Yukon XL Denali with the 20's and it's a much smoother vehicle...

Christmas jingle

So I've noticed a noise I get lately and wondering if anyone has dealt with it before. I'm only hearing it under load, usually somewhere between 2,200-2,500 rpms. Sounds like a heat shield or something similar rattling/jingling around but I can't get it to make the noise at any other time unless it'...

If you like them you like them. My wife had a wrangler years ago but now she's more interested in luxury. Snob.

Worst case she gets tired of it and you sell it. They hold their value better than most anything else.

Maybe you could share some links with your friend. Since he apparently thinks you're stupid. This is a very well documented issue and the following link covers a lot of info and has links to other articles regarding the problem: http://www.nissanproblems.com/trends/coolant-leaks-destroy-transmission...
