How often do you change your oil and why?

Just curious what other people do... I'm in the habit at this point of changing my oil every 10K/3 miles and just go by the OD. I know that's a bit obsessive but it works for me... For the record, officially Schedule 1 (more aggressive usage) calls for 3.75K Miles, while Schedule 2 (Soccer Mom) call...

Yup, agree with all the above, keep us posted on how it goes... And save all your receipts for the radiator & transmission repair, if Nissan finally issues a real recall you might get some big $$$$ back.

Your real MPG vs. computer should be way off due to your tires. With our 285s having a 7% longer circumference, that not only means your speedo reads 7% low (70MPH is actually 73), but also you're really travelling 7% further for each of those miles the MPG gauge calculates. Test it against some GPS...

Maybe it's different in California, but "winter" fuel has oxegenates in it (Ethanol, MTBE, etc) which *decrease* mileage, not the other way around. But anyway, a clear test would be with your ECU box connected and then taken out, driving on the same repeatable route in roughly the same tim...

Looking for a few good men...

...or women. I have the first batch of 1000 nifty business cards in hand, and can mail about 40 at a time easily enough. They have our web site URL ( http://www.nissantransmissionfail.com ) as well as some very brief OMG-Your-Transmission-May-Explode information, and the idea is to put them under th...

I stand corrected, not bad alternator, just loose connection to the battery. Paid my dealer $75 for that, plus they did an on over-all omg-my-warranty-is-expiring inspection. Now that my warranty is gone, just ordered a Volant PowerCore CAI :D I'll try to do some careful before & after dyno &...

Alternator Voltage Check Please!

My dealer is jerking me around about my alternator going flaky... I measured 13.6V after having trouble starting it, the FSM from my interpretation says 14.1-14.7, and they are now claiming that after tightening the terminals it's reading 13.9 and that is 'within spec'. Can anybody out there go poke...

Just had my alternator give up at 59,890 miles. On my 2005 I had both alternator and power steering pump die between 60K and 70K, but I was really hoping the newer model with the V8 would prove more robust... At least it died BEFORE my warranty expired  Also for 60K I had my fav oil change sho...

I would suggest that the Pathfinder has always been 90% sold to people who never off-road, so it's off roading abilities was more a marketing angle than a technical necessity for the market segment. However things have shifted, buyers are more concerned about MPG than ground clearance, plus the feds...
