I change it at 5k miles with dino oil simply because the truck is on the severe schedule - 3 miles to work, so it never fully heats up, or 700+ mile trips hauling about 2-3000 pounds in a trailer. Now, my car and motorcycle get annual oil changes only, more because it fits into my schedule for work ...

Update to the engine heating up question. Seem to have been either a stuck thermostat or driver error. I thinking it was probably driver error. The PF is heating up with in a couple of miles and that is after sitting outside all night in 40 deg f weather. Took the heat control off of auto and set t...

Lol, I wish that was my engine bay! That's a stock photo I grabbed quickly for the post. Having just gotten the truck, I have been too busy driving and fixing stuff to do a full detail on the bay yet. Thanks though. Shop manuals are great, but nothing beats a step by step DIY for the willing shade t...

Clunk noise when starting off?

Hey all, I have 5k mi with my PF now (78k mi total), and I'm picking up on some of its character traits. One thing in particular I notice is that some times when I back out and start to drive off in the morning, I hear a clunk or thud noise. It sounds a lot like a grate being dropped, and I haven't ...

Re: 1/4 mile run

What mode then do guys use or would be better for 1/4 mile runs. 4x4 Hi, or Auto mode? I'd assume Auto will give the closest AWD behavior, dialing down fwd power after launch, whereas 4x4 will keep power going to all wheels the whole 1/4 mile. In a straight line acceleration run, I don't think it w...

Just changed this belt on my 2006 V6 as it had an occasional squeal and 78k on the odo. I know some others have asked for a DIY on this, so here's a quick write up post change. 1. Gather what you'll need: - 10mm socket - 3/8" ratchet driver - flathead screwdriver - Nissan serpentine belt Here's...

Letter from Nissan - extending the warranty on the radiator

So, I got a letter from Nissan this week stating that it is extending the warranty on my 06 LE to cover the radiator and any damage caused from it up to 10 years or 100k mi.

Anyone else get a letter like this?

Why do you have to keep tension on the tensioner when the belt is off? Can't you pull it back again once you are ready with the new belt?

Well, after I heard it that one day, I have not been able to get it to happen again.

I'm guessing something got up and onto one of the belts, so I'm trying to see if there is any leak, maybe from the water pump, but the car is back to running silent....

Thanks,

Its the +1's vehicle so I only heard it yesterday, she was not aware. I can check how it sounds on cold start up, prob tomorrow, and try spraying the belts with some dressing to see if that helps at all.

Diagnose this squeak?

Just noticed this today - the truck has a new squeak of some sort. Here is a short video - you can hear the squeak after I come to a stop and then take off again: http://flic.kr/p/dniQUa My Pathfinder is a 2006 LE, 75k mi, and it was a dry, warm, sunny day. It happened with the engine warm and after...

Is there a DIY on these boards for changing the fluids? It seems incredible easy to do if you had step by steps and a fluid pump. I am assuming it might be more for both a differential and transfer case oil change. In my experience, a dealership service department will charge you the book price and ...
