I had my bad cat replaced with a Walker bolt on...

Failed emissions, P0420, bought a Walker direct fit cat from Autozone (best price and actually in stock) ~$260 bucks, then had my neighborhood shop replace it. Passed emissions! I'm curious though... Should I expect improved fuel economy? Smoother idle? Anything?

Early on, it will appear to go from working to not working, depending on how much fuel is in the tank. You can't trust it anymore though. I can't remember exactly, but the part from my Nissan dealer was like $80-90. My dealer price matches Courtesy Nissan. If you decide to do it your self, Have a br...

99/100 your fuel gauge sending unit has failed. Common problem. I just replaced mine to discover that it still didn't work when I finished. Talk about frustrated! I started the job at 9 AM and didn't finish until just before dark. Mostly because I'm getting old and I was doing it alone. At any rate,...

Welcome, while I love those Z's too... I think I'd be interested in seeing your namesake (71 Olds) as well. If I read into the name correctly.

Battery has 12.6V, that's not it... You can't diagnose based on that... Only under load can the number be reliable... Defective year old batteries happen sometimes... Besides if it's only a year old then it's still under warranty and may even be free replacement at this stage... Let the vendor/reta...

I have the Kenwood 9980HD. All in all, I wouldn't have gone any other way. The 9990HD is even better. In a nutshell, good audio performance for the Kenwood brand coupled with Garmin Navigation and Parrot Bluetooth. The interface of my unit isn't the fastest, but the follow on supposedly corrects thi...

Re: Firm brake pedal with engine off - vacuum leak?

I'm no expert, so forgive me if I appear to oversimplify your issue... With that said, the engine's vacuum provides braking assistance through the brake booster. When the engine is off, there is no boost ergo no assistance and hard pedal. I think your brakes are functioning normally. Do you have any...

I remember someone posting about something like this where they replaced metal lines with appropriate rubber lines. What I don't remember is if it was related to the rear heat or the rear air... maybe a search or two will find it... I've had very mixed results with searching the site... Sorry...

Wouldn't you know... Took the truck in this morning and I noticed on the way in that my service engine soon light was not on anymore. They changed the oil and checked for a code but could not find one related to the cats or otherwise. I'm not sure what to think. The last time I was there the ses lig...

As far as aftermarket vs. genuine Nissan, they are usually cheaper, but stick with a reputable, name-brand converter (ie Walker, Bosal, etc.). Some discount brand converters have been found to not up to OEM specs and the MIL will still set after you've installed it. That's what I'm afraid of... I t...

Re: catalytic convertors

So these R51 V6 trucks have 4 cats right? If one or two go bad, can't we just put some plain piping in with a threaded bung for the O2 sensor? I mean instead of replacing the cats? I need to replace mine too... I'll find out on Thursday what the damage is anticipated to be. I'd love to know if ther...

Might I also suggest a parallel campaign on http://www.change.org/. This has been used to get a number of big corporations to right wrongs. It pounds them on social media networks, and it gets their attention. The effort is not too laborious to get it set up either. Just an suggestion...

Maybe it's because it survived this type of change before that they figured they could do this with the pathfinder. I'm not a fan though... My next SUV may be a 2012 Pathfinder if I stick with Nissan.

I didn't get the in-depth diagnostic but at my last oil change I was told I needed some cat related work. With that said, when I took a road trip of about a 1000 miles the light went off about halfway through. It came back on after a few days of city driving with my commute being about 45mi/day. I'd...
