I've been thinking about this also can't wait to see what you come up with! If i go this route it will have to be level with the floor since i sleep back there while camping. Take lots of pictures if you can.

I had mine up there for awhile, but didn't care for the look and you could tell it was up there when turning. Thats what started my swing out tire carrier.
