I use Pennzoil Ultimate Syn as the Pennzoil synthetics have received good reviews and oil analyses in the Nissan V6. I had issues with noisy startups with my Infiniti using Mobil 1 in the winter several years ago. Use Pennz in both vehicles now and no complaints.

Plasti-dip spray. Cheap, looks great, durable, and easily removed if you don't like it. Lots of info and pictures on this method on the frontier forum.

About 6500 lbs with mostly trailer weight (heavy rental beast). Once up to speed it pulled no problem with 12 mpg over 150 miles or so. Stopping wasn't an issue. If I were to do it again I'd definitely get airbags.
