Test drove a 4Runner today.....

Postby jeffroyal » Mon Nov 16, 2009 7:08 pm

It was a toss up between a 2010 Pathfinder and 4Runner. I went with the Pathfinder for 2 reasons. The 4Runners took for ever to get in, and they were getting limited numbers in. Also, there are no incentives for them and one would most likely have to pay MSRP. So I took the plunge 2 weeks ago and bought the Pathfinder. (Got it 3000 below invoice)
So I drove the 4Runner today hoping I wouldn't get buyers remorse. Well I can say for me, I am still very happy with my decision. I really didn't like the fact that you had to pay for the 3rd row of seats. Also, sitting down in one made me feel like I was getting back in my old Jeep Cheorokee. It seems like Toyota went cheap on the 4Runner with this revision.
You thoughts???

The 4 Runner was one of my top 3 choices back when I was looking. I think I would have been happy with it just as much as I am with the Nissan. There were a few issues with the Toyota that I didn't like, and when it came down to the final pros/cons list, the Nissan came out on top.

i too was about to buy a 4runner, it was the xsp edition with the oem 20 inch rims and the dual borla exhaust, sweet truck. the dealer would not lower the price considering the truck needed tires. so i went to buy and bought the pathfinder instead. happy that i did, the pathfinder has more horsepower and better mpg that the 4runner did. plus the third row is what made it all worth while. i even got the path cheaper with alot less mileage.

Pathy v 4Runner

I was seriously considering the Toyota last week. But my wife is short and it was tough for her climb into the thing. Dealer told us there would be no side rails on the 2010 so they killed any possibility of the 4Runner. Nice truck though inside. You could feel the top heaviness and it swayed in a minor turn. So bought a 2010 PF LE last night. It had everything as a plus that the 4Runner didn't. I am not a 3rd row seat fan so that was not a factor. I like the PF better. Happy with my decision.

Good Choice

We were kind of happy to hear that Toyota was having troble with their cars at the present because we were hoping to take advantage of getting a 4Runner at a good price. We looked and looked and sent emails and looked some more. Just couldn't find what we wanted. We found the diamond in the rough with an '08 Pathy and test drove it. It was everything we wanted and more and for the same price as the '05-'07 4Runner's we looked at. So we took the Pathfinder and have been super happy. This is my third day taking it to work and back and I LOVE IT!

Same Issue

I looked all over on line within 250 miles of the house and there just weren't many Trail 4Runners. At the dealer, we had to wait to drive the only one they had while someone was driving it. We drove it and returned to the dealer to find out the guy who drove it right before us had bought it!
Anyway, I defintely like the PF better after driving them both. BTW: The 2010 LE 4WD was the only one of 3 of these in the Eastern part of TN.
