Timing Chain or Belt? VQ35DE

Postby Orange Palmetto » Sat Aug 15, 2009 12:47 pm

I own an '01 Pathfinder with the VG35DE engine. My owner's manual specifically mentions that the VG33E needs its timing belt replaced at 105K miles, but has no mention of the VG35DE engine needing this service.

My experience with past vehicles tells me that vehicles with a chain don't need to have their chains replaced as often as belts. Can anyone tell me is my engine has a belt or chain, and does it need to be changed?

Thanks!

Your engine has a timing chain and should not have to be changed for the life of the vehicule !
