Tire pressure monitor system

Postby Gray » Mon Aug 04, 2008 8:38 am

Last week I got some sidewall damage on a tire so took it to the local large chain tire store to install a new tire on the spare wheel and move the OEM spare to the front wheel. I advised the service manager that the truck had a TPMS so that they would use the proper changing procedure to not damage the sensor.

This store has large bay windows so customers can watch what's happening with the vehicle and I noticed the worker was installing on the wrong rim so the service manager and I took a walk out and I could see that the kid had already run the machine around the rim without removing the sensor first.

Any who need tires changed should print a copy of the 'Sensor and Tire Removal and Instalation section', page WT-36 and WT-37 from the service manual at the top of the page and give it to the Tire shop service manager so hopefully those knuckleheads won't screw up a $150 tire sensor like they did on mine.

Did they at least pay for the damage that was done? I would have flipped out.
