I installed a Autometer 5757 trans temp gauge with short sender. The normal sender will not fit because it hits metal inside the trans pan. I used teflon tape to seal the sender, which I guess can sometimes cause ground issues???
The sender is supposed to ground itself. So maybe teflon is issue.
Anyways, I then connect hot 12v wire to switched cigarette lighter 12v.
I then connect ground wire to ground wire of cigarette lighter...is that ok??
The gauge will cycle through but instantly goes to 250F and stays there.
Do I need to run a dedicated ground from gauge??? I daisy chained into other ground wire and think that was bad idea.
Opinions???
I've read that if gauge pegs to 250F it's a ground issue. I'll post pics or gauge installed, but would like gauge to actually work too!!!
Thanks all.
