Pathfinder Sport SAT(Kumho KL61) or Michelin LTX M/S2

Postby Rogue9 » Tue Oct 07, 2014 3:16 pm

I can save about $150 on the Pathfinder sports from Discount tire.

Not sure which I want to get.
On one hand I do primarily Highway/city/gravel road travel.
However I MUST get to work in the snow/ice and do like to climb the local mountains once in a while to ski during the winter. (I'm in Vancouver, Canada.... our snow is a different kind of snow/ice lol.)

And if I travel through the mountains in the winter (rarely... but it happens)
I would need the Snowflake symbol (On the SAT's) to get through or hook up chains.

And before someone says it I've looked into Duratracs.... That's about $200 more than the LTX M/S2's and althought I LOVE the look of them, I think it would be just fanboy overkill for that type of AT tire.

Would appreciate any opinions. =)

I don't do a whole lot of mountains, but do some steep hills, mostly highway and country roads. I loved my Michelin LTX M/S2's and will go back to them when my Nittos wear out. The M/S2 is more of a highway tire. If you want an all-terrain tire, then go with the Michelin LTX A/T2.

I really like my Pathfinder Sport tires. They are an awesome bang for the buck tire. They are great on the highway and I have played in the middle with them without any issues. I used to have duratrac tires and I hated them. They were so loud with road noise and they gave my Pathfinder a bad ride.

Just picked up my set yesterday. Good highway stint to get home (I cross border shop...)
Mainly came down to price and rating of tire.

So far the only thing I've noticed is its "softer" than the stock BFG Long trail tours.
By that I mean I don't feel the road as much. Could be cause the BFG's were 4 years old and pretty well worn but it's just something I've noticed.
Road noise is the same if not less than the BFG Long Trail.
