$500 Pathy runs...then dies?

I have a search going on Craigslist, and a 1997 Pathfinder came up today for $500. Naturally, I'm interested. It's going cheap because the guy says it runs fine for about 4 miles then dies. I can't fathom what would cause a car to die after it gets warmed up. Thoughts...?

It can be a number of things, but a common problem is the distributor for this symptom.
