factory tint on 05 pathy

Postby bati » Sun Apr 12, 2009 8:43 pm

I recently went to get my front two windows tinted but
the guy used a dark shade on my front windows..so the front windows look darker than the back...

what is the actual window shade(%)on the OEM windows?

i would like to match it exactly to to my rear windows...

thanks,

Factory is If i am not mistaken 18%, most of the shops will have a factory tint.... Just make sure you go to a decent shop with some rep and not a back garage.

Yeah, I had the fronts done on my '06. The shop used a gray tint, but it appears a bit green. Had the same problem with a couple of Audis. The green is in the glass, and apparently can't be neutralized with an applied film.

My guess would be 18% - 20%. The only way you can really match it good is to tint over the factory tint and do the front ones darker to match. I put 20% all around and my front ones are a little lighter, but it looks good. Just light enough to keep the cops off my back cause you can still see through somewhat.

In most states you can not exceed the 35% of darkness on your front windows. The back is another story but I don't think automaker went to far from that. Therefore my guess is that the factory would be around that as well.
Most shops have displays of how the tints would look, borrow one and cross reference with your back windows before you take off or add tint.
When I fisrt bought mine the previous user had the front @ 35% and it kinda match the back. But I got crazy and tinted the back @ 5% and now I need to do the front somewhere @ 20% to match it again.

I tinted my two front windows, and the shop did a great job of matching the factory tint. For anyone here in the Philly area, I went to Sound Waves in Prospect Park. These guys also do custom audio installation for car and home.

Just had my front 2 done and I had the rear three darkend.

TintKing in MA did an awesome job. Tint color matches perfectly.
