2006 Wheel help!!!

Postby Chio » Wed Oct 21, 2009 1:16 pm

I just bought a 2006 pathfinder LE and i would like to upgrade to the 2010 mesh style wheels that are 18's. Is this a problem? will this effect the computer in anyway. I know i will have to buy new 18 in tires also.

Thanks

Your LE came stock with 265/65/17 tires. Moving to an 18 inch wheel, you could use 265/60/18 tires (if you can find them), and stay within 1/10th inch circumference of stock configuration. You and your truck will never notice the difference. Any other size tires will be greater or smaller in circumference than original, thus producing speedo error.

As for a CEL while staying within 1/10th inch of spec, I don't see how that's even remotely possible. 1/10th inch is ~ 3/32nds, much less than a tire tread will wear down during its life.

Do your own size comparisons here . . .

I did basicaly the same but with my SE ... went from the SE 16's to the LE 17's ....265-70-16 to a 275-60-17 .... All comes down to getting the right tire size !! You will probably want to use the TPMS sensors out of your '06 wheels ...

Heres the skinny. When you get whatever size tire/rim combo just let all the air out of the factory tires then push the tire down and take out the TPS. if you want slap some regular old valve stems into your factory wheels and set them aside for an emergency. Take your TPS and put them into your new rims/tires. The low pressure light will go out after about 30 miles or so. I went from a 16" to a 20" 275/45/20 and have no problems! Dont listen to the stealership ok...go to your local custom car shop and they will help you out. They sell aftermarket wheel fitments all day long so they know whats up.
