Pathy Fail

Yesterday went out to the usual desert offroading, had a fun drive, then rested on top on a big dune for drinks.

15 minutes later, the car wouldnt start. all lights were dim, and seemed the battery was dead.

jumped it and still didnt turn on. replaced the battery with another car that was with us, and it turned on normally.

today, i turned it on and off numerously during the day, then at night, filling up with gas on my way home, the car doesnt turn back on, and all lights go dim.

after 30 minutes of waiting for a tow truck, i decided to give it a shot, and it turned on normally !!

however, the 4x4 light came on, and its stuck in 2WD now.

taking it to Nissan saturday, will keep ya posted.

Almost sounds like a terminal connection problem at the battery or a bad ground.

May be the IPDM. When mine went out it would die while running though. Some times it would start back up and run ok though for a little bit. In the end it quit all together.

I thought I read somewhere that these new vehicles nowadays require the 12-13 volts to operate correctly, so if your battery is going bad and will not take a full 12-13 volt charge than the computers may HICKUP ..

was the charging system working normally at these two points?

battery is relatively new, and working fine. alternator was also charging properly

im more inclined to think its a short circuit somewhere, cause all the lights were dim, then suddenly its all ok and turns on normally.

2 years of desert offroading abuse finally kicked in ?

nyways any news on what happened..im more inclined to think you had a loose terminal some where..
