Alternative to a Chilton or Haynes Manual for R51?

Postby Spamcan » Wed Jul 07, 2010 1:13 pm

I just looked on both the Chilton and Haynes websites - there are no manuals for the R51 PF. So I was thinking of getting the "05-08 Xterra/Frontier" manual. Thinking much of the inner workings (engine, tranny, brakes, etc) should be the same or very similar. Or at least similar enough to get me thru regular maintenance and repairs. Plus since I have that version of Xterra, wouldn't be a waste my $...

Any thoughts to this? Any other manuals you'd suggest?

And which one, Haynes or Chilton?

i've used both (for many other vehicles), and neither seems as good as the OEM manual

Yea, love those manuals, but I can't take my laptop with me into the garage. With my luck - CRASH, smash, F**K.

Can you print it out? Might be cheaper than buying one.....maybe

I can't live without my laptop in the garage. I'm constantly having to dig up references for whatever I'm working on. Either full-on DIYs, or at least torque specs and the like.

I set up a retractable cord from the ceiling and then use a folding chair as my laptop stand :).
