Which transfer case?

Postby HillbillyJake » Sat Nov 20, 2010 6:39 pm

Can anybody tell me how to figure out which transfer case I got. I am going to do a fluid swap tomorrow and when I was looking in the service manual it lists 2 different ones. I have an 2008 S model. thanks in advance

From what I see in the FSM, if you have Auto 4WD, you have the ATX14B. The other on, the TX15B, must be for us poor folks without the 'Auto' mode on our 4WD dial...

what fluid are you using? which Transfer case do you have, and how much fluid is required?

I am using Castrol High Mileage ATF. the transfer case is the 15 one. I dont remember the whole number. it holds about 2 and a half quarts. the fluid that came out was a dark grey in color. I have about 64k on the truck thats why i went with the high mileage. Castrol has 2 fluids that are compatable. the high mileage atf and the inport multi vehicle. Valvoline also has their max life atf that will work also.

handy tools, but annoying sometimes!

Thanks for the info. I will be doing a drain and fill on my t-case at the next oil change, which should be today or tomorrow.
