alright it's done...took me more time than expected...I had to remove the whole engine skid plate to access the oil filter since that one was a pita to remove..they really cranked it hard at the factory... !!...that took me quite some time since the adapter tool for the oil filter kept slipping..I eventually got it by using some tape to get some more grip to the filter !

so in order:

remove engine skid plate (14 bolts)
remove oil drain plug
drain oil from oil pan
put new oil drain plug washer
put back the oil drain plug
wipe all the oil around
remove oil filter ( pita)
wipe oil around the area
oil new filter
put new filter back on: hand tighten + 2/3 turn after that ( didn't crank it as hard as the factory)
wipe oil around area
fill up engine with new oil: a little bit over 6-1/2 QT of Valvoline 5w-30
start up engine and check for oil leaks: looks ok
stop engine then wait for 5-10 min and check oil dipstick
added a little bit of oil.
start engine again and check for leaks: looks ok
put skid plate back on with the flashlight..:D

that's it !

questions ? comments ?

:D

Don't worry-- that time will shorten after a few times.

I just did the 10th oil change on mine (33,750) on my '06 V6. Now I:

Put the ramps down in the garage

Get out my cordless drill w/ a 10MM socket
Get out my filter wrench
Get out the wrench for the drain plug (don't remember the size, but put a red mark on it so I can see it in the drawer quickly)
Get out drain pan

Pop the Pathy in 4wd (so it doesn't "push" the ramps) and pull it up. Toss chocks behind the rear tires and set the E-brake.

I pop open the drain plug and let it start flowing
Get off the 10MM bolts that hold on the skid plate
Take off the filter
Put the crush washer on the drain plug and re-install
pre-fill and put on filter
fill w/ oil
while I wait for the big 5qrt Mobil 1 jug to drain the last few $$ drops I put back on the skid plate

All in all, it's down to about 15min ... probably 20 by the time I put the used oil back into the empty jugs and clean up.
