Rear Bumper Question

Postby hamncheese » Thu Feb 17, 2011 3:59 am

Just got my Pathfinder not too long ago and I noticed that if I apply enough pressure against the rear bumper, it will pop out on the sides. It really has to be a lot of pressure as if when you back up against a car. I would then have to pop in the bumper on the sides. Seems like maybe it came off before but I see no visible damages on the bumper.

I've looked for a way to properly secure the bumper but can't seem to find a way to secure it without putting her on a lift.

Any thoughts? Cant' imagine this being normal

Thanks

the rear bumper cover is held & aligned by tabs which engage into slots in the cover itself
some of yours are probably broken :(
see pg EI-15 in the Service manual (3rd "sticky" at the top of this forum)

Any pictures of the problem area? It does sound like some of the tabs that hold the bumper on have broken off.
