Replace tranny radiator before warranty expires? Good idea?

Postby PC05 » Sat Feb 26, 2011 6:12 pm

FSU unit finally went out on wifes pathy at 63k. While there they replaced ECM relay and airbag sensor. I asked them to check tranny for signs of contamination from anti-freeze, none found but got me to thinking, so I asked them how much to replace the tranny radiator. quoted 400$.

This seems to me to be cheap insurance if the radiator does not break before the warranty expires. What do you guys think?

Will take 35 minutes. Most of it is removing the skid plate.

1-10 on how hard this will be: 2 maybe 3

Here is an easy diagram to use when performing the bypass.

ONce the radiator is out of the loop you NEVER have to worry about contamination.

If you are still leary abou not having the radiator loop, buy auxilliary ATF cooler on Amazon and bolt it on. It will take you avout an hour, most of which will be momoving the grill.

Thanks, but is it that straight forward? Is that the only hoses under there? Is that if you are looking from up under the truck or from the top?
