Some of the problems that I've experienced in the past when retrofitting super bright white high wattage Cibie or Bosch halogen headlamps is that they work great if there is no oncoming traffic but if you can't use your high beams you're just back to a low beam low light scenario anyway. A better solution to my mind is something that gives good peripheral lighting out to about 300 m /1000ft without creating a long distance spot beam and so gives adequate stopping time for most normal night 60-70 mph speeds in case of wildlife coming onto a road. I don't need to light up a whole range of mountains but just get some extra ditch viewing time to keep the deer and moose out of my grill. :)

Maybe I'm mistaken but somehow I think that bi-xenon HID's which give 3 times the lighting power of halogens would also be on low beam most of the time for my driving area and might not really help with ditch lighting anyway...all of this aside from this areas occasional snow/sleet/rain night driving conditions which point toward more of a 2500K to 3000K yellow light rather than pimp-yo-ride parking lot blue or purple 5000K+ color.

YMMV

I put 3000K stock wattage bulbs in my fogs.... works great.

I'll make sure they are on when I get the pics. I was worried about the combo at first, but they work really well together.

HID: BiXenon's

Postby OurPathfinder » Sat Mar 08, 2008 10:44 pm

So... no one has really said whether or not the bixenon's are worth the money. We do A LOT of VERY dark road driving for long periods of time and are considering purchasing an HID retrofit kit. We put in the Sylvania Silverstars and already see a HUGE difference. We have considered adding a bull bar and HID driving lights in leu of the bixenon retrofit. Curious if anyone who ISN'T from Europe has added a bixenon retrofit kit to their Pathfinders? Also if it's been done without changing out the headlamp housing? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Well, I finally got the correct hid/bi-xenon lights setup in the pf, sorry it took soo long. I'll try to post some pics tonight.

on a side note I ended up installing the 50w 6000k bi-xenon hid setup. I initially bought the usual 35w hid with the 10000k, but the color was a little too blue/purple when I finally saw it on a friends vehicle. The retailer advised me that the 50w is probably too intense for city driving but would work wonders with dark open roads.

?how do you post a pic from your computer without it being on the internet?

Which kit is this? I'm looking to HID ours...

Postby hpc3 » Sun Mar 30, 2008 6:13 am

My two other cars are Audis and have Xenons(our Maximas did as well). Never really realized how poor the Pathy's lights are until I had to drive 2hrs on country roads last night... the reason I'm looking here for answers. Very dangerous at speed limits with the standard lights imo.

Found a Bi plug/play kit for the '05+ Frontier on the web but its $359. If I can figure out what Japanese kit this is I'll see if I can source it for less. Looks like most of these options are ~$200 generally, unsure on plug/play fit.

http://stores.ebay.com/Kassabian9898-Car-China

I bought it off of ebay

see item #140212902625.

I have another bi-xenon kit with 9007-10000k bulbs (fits the pf with a blue/purple color bulb) if your interested. I'm looking to get around $115 for it

The low beam looks a bit scattered, but the high is a nice focused beam. Don't care for the purple fogs, but that's just my opinion. Is the power wiring separate from the existing headlamp wiring? I didn't know if the wiring loom got warm while the headlight were on. Some people that added higher watt bulbs in the headlamps, melted the wiring, because of the extra power draw.
