Wheel shutter

Postby yellowbug » Sun Jul 01, 2012 6:47 pm

Ok we just got a 2003 3wd vq35 pathy. We love it and the power it has over the vg33 I have in my x. So far the only issue I have is a wheel shutter. I only happens at 75 feels like some one is swerving from left to right. Could it be the bask joint shocks or bad tires. I an going to lift the truck tomarrow or tuesday and se if the wheel shakes. If it is the ball joints are the pressed in?

Thank you in advance.

Bad tires are worn steering componants or wheel bearings can certainly cause that symptom. As you already mentioned, you'll need to get the front end in the air and check. To check the ball joints, you'll need to support the control arm and use a large bar to lift up under the tire to check for play. Ball joints on the 2WD models are serviceable seperately from the control arm but are not pressed in. They'll most likely be riveted on the arm or bolted on.
