Liftgate trim removal help

I need to remove the chrome trim piece on the liftgate of my 2007 SE. I found a thread here that shows that the interior panel must be removed to access the screws for the trim.

Before I start pulling on it and breaking things, does anyone have some tips/instructions for removing the rear hatch panel?
