Slip a thin flat screw driver into the centerline where the two molded plastic pieces meet and twist the screwdriver 90° .

They practically fall off (in fact, one did, about two weeks after buying the truck). I've since glued all of my caps onto the rack to avoid this happening again. But seriously, just pry them off.

Fall off huh? Whats it look like under there? Steel? Alum? 2 dinky bolts? Welds? They are just decorative covers right? And once gone, any additional wind noise?

I didn't look that closely at the material...I just seem to remember a couple of torx screws under there. My memory is really terrible about it and I'd hate to take a guess. But yeah, the covers are just decorative.

It was the rear left cover that fell off, and I didn't notice any additional wind noise, but I hadn't had the truck that long and wasn't accustomed to it yet.

Ok thanks. Mine will be off soon... making new brackets to allow for boat rather than all that additonal YAKIMA/WHOEVER crap....

If it works well, I smell patent! :P
