Removing the rear bumper cap

Have any here had to remove the rear plastic bumper cap and any tricks to that? My wife backed into another vehicle and there doesn't appear to be any damage other than the plastic cap bulged out away from the steel body on one side about half an inch starting at the wheel well and going about a 1 1/2 feet back from there. Think I might have to look into installing a rear bumper protector, maybe something that will slip into the square hitch receiver.

I know a Hyundai can remove the front bumper cover off my '08 pretty easy
