Hi all... my wife and I just bought our first Pathfinder yesterday... a beautiful 2005 LE with 38,000 miles. I love driving it and it feels like a great truck.
I started looking at reviews online today and they make it sound like every 2005 needs a new transmission every 40,000 miles or so do to leaking coolant. Did I just make the worst decision of my life or are these reports overstated? Are there things I can do to check for such problems before they happen?
I hope I didn't just make a mistake because I do LOVE the truck and I think I will drive it 200,000 miles if it will go that far!

welcome. the problems that most people are having is with the radiator. the transmission fluid shares it and the internal wall fails causing the fluids to mix and that's what eats the gears in the tranny. my advice to you is to either have the radiator replaced with a new one before a problem occurs. the 07 and newer does not seem to have the problem and they use the same rad. or your other option is to by-pass the rad. there is a thread on the forum where someone did. I am doing the opposite. I just picked up a 2000 Hyundai Accent to use as a beater to drive back and forth to work.
