Gimp, the pathfinder and John DArc

Well I bought a 1994 Pathfinder XE 2WD, I had another mid-90’s pathfinder back in the day and ended up rolling in the Colorado Rockies, that one was a 4WD. Anyway I remembered great things about it and went ahead and bought this one here in Texas. Admittedly not the greatest buy, it drove well for over an hour while I test drove it. Didn’t seem to have any oil leaks no rough shifting, the alignment was a little off but all in all it seemed like a great buy.

Until I got it home and realized at some point between the test drive and home some 60 miles it started leaking oil pretty horridly from the pan. Running high RPM pre-shift [about 4500 rpms per gear before it shifts], and the alignment was off because it had been in an accident and needed a full new front end essentially.
I got to work on it the next day I dropped and released the oil pan, [exceedingly difficult for such a simple task when compared to other vehicles I have worked on.
I replaced the front shocks, the upper and lower control arm bushings, upper and lower ball joins, tie-rod ends inner and outer, replaced the passenger side upper control arm [was bent], the sway bar bushings and link ends, and repacked the wheel bearings on both driver and passenger side.
I still have to put a cat on it [someone thought it would be a great idea to cut it out and run flex pipe all the way back to the muffler.] Also I still have an oil leak it looks like it’s coming from the rear main, which sounds like a treat to work on, <--sarcasm if you couldn’t tell. I still haven’t figured out the late shifting on the transmission yet either.

About me well I’m 20-something, 26 if I remember right. I am a mechanic-ish. My Dad has been a mechanic for most of my life, he’s taught me pretty well. I can turn a wrench and rebuild an engine just don’t ask me to diagnose anything without a computer to do it for me. He’s living up in Michigan and I am living out in Texas now.
