98 Pathfinder LE, New Jersey

Postby chrisduke » Mon Jun 10, 2013 4:19 pm

Hello,

Found this on Ebay...paid 800 dollars...122k miles...bought it a week ago

Sahara Beige...had a Mohogany hood but I already changed it...

Needs some TLC but overall pretty solid...

Suspension definitely needs help...car sways all over the place at high speeds...rear is loose...

I'm looking to bring her up to speed little by little :)

*EDIT*

Added more before pics...

You can hook that up into a sweet ride. Welcome to the family.

Thanks.

So far...

-changed the hood (it was mohogany)...found a hood in Staten Island at a junk yard for 120...

-changed 3 of the for corner bumpers, as they were rusted out...got some aftermarket pieces off ebay...

-changed front chrome bumper as well, as it was beginning to rust and had a dent

-changed grille to OEM chrome grille (it had black grille with gold emblem...apparently it was changed because someone backed into car at some point according to previous owner)

-did some cleaning up around the rear fenders. I couldn't find the OEM CR0 (Sahara Beige) paint anywhere. For the time being used a close enough color Toyota paint. Will address this again later if I can get correct paint or possibly add fender flares.

-also used same paint to paint bumper filler panel since it was mohogany color.

-added a chrome exhaust tip. looks better than a rusty pipe sticking out.

-washed SEVERAL times (car looked like it wasn't washed often), clay bar, polish, wax, etc. A friend helped; he clay barred the hood alone 6 times. I guess lying around in the junkyard it picked up lots of contaminants.

-other misc. stuff like removing stupid bumper stickers and rear window stickers...removing a lot of crap under the seats, 100 cigarettes in the ash tray, seats and rug were filthy. still working on rugs, seats are getting a lot better.

I plan on changing the front side markers to clear corners. Currently it has OEM, but one is chrome edge, one is black edge.

I also plan on getting the 99 taillights.

The tailgate was apparently changed. Different VIN andthe key doesn't open it. It would be nice if this worked :(

I did the oil change so far, I have the spark plugs as well and will change those next weekend. The suspension seems to need a bit of work...

I have the death sway, I need front axle, shocks, etc.

Truck was FILTHY underneath. I assume they used it off-road a lot. I have cleaned the bottom so many times but it seems dirt keeps coming down...

*correction - rear gate VIN does match, but for whatever reason key doesn't turn or open glass or gate.

it's the rear bumper VIN that doesn't match.

After I changed the hood and friend helped me clay, polish, wax the front half of the truck:

After the bumpers, corners, grille were changed, rear fenders sprayed and claybarring, polishing and waxing were completed (need better pics - these were quick):

upload the pic to tinypic.com or wherever you want...

then when you post, click the Img button and paste the link where the photo is.

As far as getting ready for mud and sand...I doubt I'm going to off-road it though...we will see...
