is there some kind of oil,spray that might soften the glue so it be easier to remove.

What type of glue is it? I've heard people say peanut butter will remove some glues. Personally, I would try gasoline, turpentine or benzine(petroleum ether). I've had success with the aforementioned,but it depends on the type of glue. Test on a small section first by dabbing it with a whetted cloth. and then rubbing it off.

use goo gone. peanut butter brings rats.

try some WD-40
more volatile chemicals may damage plastics (or catch fire!) :wink:

Goo Gone might work, what definitely will work is a label remover spray that you can get at any auto supply store.
