plastic fender flares on R50

does anyone know how to get the plastic fender flares off from around the wheel wells of a 2000 Pathfinder SE? I am trying to take them off to see if there is any rust i need to fix. There are plastic clips holding them on and I don't want to snap them off by pulling on it the wrong way. Thanks in advance.

I got the flares off, now I need to get the plastic clips out from the quarter panel.

Not my truck, but was wondering if someone has removed these plastic clips before. Is there a way to get them out with breaking them.[/img]
