Anyone know 08 Max Tire Size

Postby cspompey » Tue Sep 21, 2010 5:40 pm

I have an 08 SE with a 2'' suspension lift I am looking to also purchase.I would like to go from the 265/65/17 that has an 8'' rim width and is 30.6'' overall diameter to 285/70/17 that has 8.5'' rim width and 32.7'' overall diameter. Has anyone does this? Will it fit? Any advice or ideas would be great.

The last time I asked this question here, everyone said it would be fine & that people do far worse in terms of tire & wheel combinations. There are a number of people here running tires on wheels that are .5" narrower than what the tire calls for. I run the stock size 265/75/16, but if I want to go up to a 285/75/16, the tire mfrs. call for a wider wheel (.5") than what I have. Off the top of my head, I know that Carl (site owner) is running tires larger than he should w/out any problems.

My off-road setup is 285/75-16 tires on 8" rims with a +12mm offset. With a 2" lift, rubbing would not be a problem.

What about the stock 245/75R16 rims? I don't have a lift but want to put some bigger beefier tires on but I don't know what my size limit is. I'd like to do like a 275 without rubbing but I'm not sure if I can even go that big with those rims.
