Fuel tank True or False?

Postby jetwrangler » Tue Jun 21, 2011 1:49 pm

True or False
The 2005 Nissan Pathfinder has a 21.1 Fuel tank?

I ask this because I have only put a max of around 16 gallons in the tank on E with the yellow low fuel light on. The link below says it has a "reserve tank" with a total size of 21.1 gallons. That's 5 gallons not being used before fill up. Which means if I continue my average of 19mpg I should be getting 400 miles before TOTALLY empty.

What do you average on your 05+ pathfinders
fill up total gallons?
what is the DTE when you fill up?
and how many miles do you actually get out of a tank?

I try to fill up at 1/2 a tank, but if i'm on a road trip i want to minimize stops.

My DTE started clicking down to zero today & it was at empty when I hit the gas station. Still only needed 18.59 gallons before it was full. I think it's kind of nice that it has a 2+ gallon margin of safety, assuming one is driving in the city when it hits empty.

The tank is 21.1 gallons. Since Nissan is building and designing in Metric terms your tanks are exactly 80 liters. Some gas gauges are better than others and mine will come on when there are around 3.9 gallons left in the tank (15 liters). You should easily be able to go another 50 miles before you get to the critical point. My pick-up did the same thing I had a 24 gallon tank and it always lit up after I used up 20 gallons. :)

Here is another weired thing for US consumers. Your oil change intervals are set at 3750miles because in the metric world it would be every 5000km.
