When I first got my 06 LE 4X4, I was getting 16mpg avg and 14.5 mpg around town. I started lightening up on my foot and using cruise control whenever possible and now I'm averaging 17.5 to 19.0 mpg. On a long trip of interstate and highway driving, I average 19.5 mpg and sometimes see as much as 21 mpg. I've tried switching between 87 octane and 91 octane and then switched back to 87 because I saw no change in gas mileage and felt no change in performance, at least for my driving style. Everything's stock on the vehicle.

Two weeks ago, I switched from 89 to 87 octane. I was averaging 19mpg highway on 89. Now I'm getting 21mpg highway on 87. I was putting in 89 for about 1.5 months and I've never gone over 19mpg highway until I put in 87.

With city driving, I was averaging 10-11mpg on 89. Now I'm at 14-15mpg on 87.

I will be going out of town again this coming weekend and will be running on 87 octane. I want to confirm that I'm now getting 21mpg with 87 on the highway.

I currently have 1400 something miles on the odometer.

City driving back and forth to work I am at 15.8mpg. Best I have got was ~20mpg driving 65-70mph for all highway. I usually run Shell V-power (93 Octane).

I don't do much better than 13-14 around town, but then I have a 3 mile commute so that doesn't help. Just went on a two day roundtrip to Lubbock and was actually pleasantly surprised. EPA says 14/20 for the 4x4. I got exactly 22 on the way out (including over mountains @ 9000 feet from 4000). By the time I got home it was down to 21 for the whole trip but it was into a stiff breeze the whole way back. Average speed for 723 miles including some winding mountain roads, open rural highways (@ about 70-75) and poking around the TTU campus was 54.8 mph. 2900 on the odo all with 91 octane except in west Texas where 90 was as high as available.

I don't think I can complain too much about that - it seems to me its exactly as advertised.
