Top of the very short list of things I'd replace my Path for

Anything automotive in nature, be it Nissan or one of those "other" manufacturers.

2013 Pathfinder? No. Diesel/Hyrbid Land Rover? I'd sure think about it!

I've considered going the Jeep GC route to get the 3.0 CRD that they have in it. Apparently really torquey, and seamless. Would tow my camper really well, and gets 28-32 MPG in everyday driving. Too bad its a Jeep... :)

If Honda offered a diesel Ridgeline/Pilot, I'd jump at it too.

Have considered getting a 3/4 ton pickup diesel, but can't justify having an engine with that much displacement for daily driving.

But, what do you think about this:

This has been the hoped for gossip on the Nissan boards for a couple of years since word first got out about it. This would obviously be ideal & make sense, so I'm sure it will never make it to market here

Carl, I think you are on crack for even entertaining the thought of a Land Rover!

I didn't know the GC had a diesel option now, but I don't really follow Jeep news. I'll have to look that one up, but I don't think I could get around the simple fact that it would still be a Jeep.

They don't, just the 06-08s had it, but that is the vintage of vehicle I'd be looking at if I upgraded. (more like thats what I could afford...) Up here they were retailing for about $70k new... Right now they are selling for $22-26k.

Jeep is looking to put a Diesel into the new WKII for 2014.

"Sources within Chrysler say that the 3.0-liter turbo diesel already available in Jeeps overseas will hit the U.S. market next year.

With a five-speed automatic transmission, the diesel is capable of 23 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, a large improvement on the gasoline model's 17 mpg city, 23 mpg highway.

Automotive News suggests a new eight-speed automatic transmission will also arrive around the same time, though it's unclear whether this will be paired with the new diesel unit. Even if the transmission is only used on the gasoline variants, gas mileage improvements should be significant.

In five-speed auto guise, the diesel engine produces 241 horsepower and 406 pounds-feet of torque, so pulling power shouldn't be an issue.

The news comes on the back of strong Grand Cherokee sales, currently 38 percent up on last year at 62,611 units by May."

Too bad its a Jeep...

Thought you'd get a kick out of this. I pulled up beside a guy driving a 4Runner with this sticker on the back of his truck.

Not sure why the picture did not show but the sticker says "Jeeps are cute, Barbie drives one". Just made me smile. Since then, I've noticed a lot of women driving Jeeps...hmm.

Long term plan for us is to buy either a Titan or Armada (if they offer the diesel engine in it) in 2016. I figure that would be enough time to see if the new engine is a dog, and/or allow Nissan and Cummins to work out any of the kinks, as there always are when a new technology/engine is introduced.

Our Pathy needs to last that long... it already has 200k kms on it, by then it'll be close to 300k kms or 185k miles. So far so good.

Or maybe Nissan will come to their senses and offer a Pathfinder-sized SUV by then (not a mamby-pamby CUV), and we'd get that. Don't think I need the full size, we like the size of the current Pathy. The X is too small.[/code]
