New to Pathfinder.

Postby James P » Fri Oct 26, 2012 3:44 pm

Good Evening all :D
I've recently bought a Pathfinder, so far, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase. I mainly bought it for towing a caravan, which it does very well.
My only concern is the fuel consumption, according to the trip computer i'm getting about 20mpg. It's a 2.5 litre diesel, 07 plate Aventura. Is this about average or should I be concerned please ??.
Also, one of the front plastic covers is missing from the roof rails, does anyone know where I can get a replacement please
Regards
James.

Welcome! I can't really provide any insight on the gas mileage you're getting since all Pathfinder here in the state have the 4.0 gasoline engine. I usually average 19 mpg with everyday driving. I'll get 20-21 on highway trips.

I had one of my front plastic roof rack covers come loose on the highway. I had to get a replacement part at the dealer. It was about $30 (US). These plastic covers just clip on so to make sure it didn't come loose again, I also used some super glue when I installed it. If you don't have a local dealer perhaps you can order one online from a dealer.

you get 19mpg average on a 4.0 litre? Wow, thought they were worse than the R50. I'm getting about 16 mpg average with a 3.3L.

The one big advantage the R51 has over the R50 is the 5 spd. AT over the R50's 4-spd. AT. Another thing I've noticed is that the 08-and-later R51 V6's seem to get a little better gas mileage than the 05-07 R51's. My 06LE averages 17.5 mpg combined while my 08SE gets 19.5 mpg. Both do better on long, highway runs, getting 20.5 & 22 mpg, respectively. The 06 has the auto mode 4WD while the 08 has the part-time 4WD; both have the same size tires.

I like to hear that. Hoping to get an R51 after my R50 wears out...but that might not be for along time!

Ineresting - I wonder if the LE is a little heavier too.
