4 batteries in 8 years ??

Postby NCGal » Mon Dec 07, 2009 9:37 pm

2001 Pathfinder .... just bought the 4th battery in 8 years. Car is driven at least 6 days a week. 98,500 miles total. What would cause the battery needing to be replaced so often?

What is it charging at? (The voltage at the battery when running). Could be overcharging or you have a lot of amperage draw on the battery. (Lots of lights or stereo system). That is a lot of batteries to go through. What brand are the batteries?

If you're buying the cheap bottom of the line batteries then that's about as long as they last. Go for the 3 year warranty or more battery.

Still on original Nissan battery. And have 5 channel amp with JL audio stealth box subwoofer. Original alternator too.

08 S model bought in June of 08 used from Enterprise rental car. Only issue I have is I have to constantly clean off corrosion on the positive terminal every few months.
