Are you sure its an 8" round sub? If it is then I'm going to take another look at re-doing mine up. I had a 10" sub that I was just going to suck it up and throw in the back, but if an 8" sub will fit in the stock location then I'll go that route instead.

OK if thats the case, did they put one on each side or are there two of them in one of those panels? I still think I could get an 8" sub back there in one of those wells. The one I'm thinking of is this one...

or

and only if I have to...

I would think so, but not sure... I know there is only one speaker grill back there and it is on the drivers side. I was going to upgrade but it looks like a real pita to tear all that plastic out.

Perhaps. Or it may just appear that way. My thing is I don't want to get in there before buying my sub. Thats why I'm trying to dig deeper into this because I would love to have a sub in one of those wells.

Just looked at mine and they are both on the drivers side behind the grill.
If you take a flashlight and shine it through the grill you can plainly see both subs side by side...

do you think the non bose system can accommodate some after market subs in the same space ?

Thats what I'm trying to figure out. I'm 99% sure that a small sub can fit in there in non-bose set ups. When I get some time I'll be looking into this in my Pathy and post the results.

that would be great.

it would be nice if the compartment was already set to throw in a little box or bolt on infinite baffle.

Yeah I saw that too, but for $600, I'd rather custom build myself a fiberglass enclosure. Also that sub may be way too much bass for my liking. And there is nothing "stealth" about that carpeted beast.
