Change Colored basic display to navigation unit

Postby dkphillips2010 » Thu Jun 28, 2012 9:37 am

I am looking to change my current basic colored display in to a navigation unit with blue tooth. What are my options, from what I can find it doesn't look very possible. Since my a/c is also displayed on this screen, if I replace it with a nav unit am I still going to be able to see my comfort controls?

Thanks!

why not add install a standalone NAV to the screen and switch between NAV and stock display with a rocker switch ?

Thanks for your response. I do not do this stuff very often... I understand the rocker switch I have read on those. But what do you mean a standalone NAV? Like just have it sitting somewhere else?

The two things I am looking to get is the NAV and Bluetooth

essentially the screen in your car is a normal TV, so anything connected it will show up. you can add a DVD, NAV, xbox, reverse camera..... whatever you want.

the NAV i've installed in my car is a Garmin GVN53. its a small black box that i've fitted under the dash and connected to the screen.

the rocker switch will basically switch video inputs from:
1 - your Nissan display
2 - your installed Garmin.

you could also get a 3-way switch and add a DVD player.

bluetooth is very simple, as you can buy a ready-kit and mount it in your car. however if you want to integrate the bluetooth into the built-in screen... im not brave enough to try that.
